Bassetlaw Foodbank has received a boost from McConnell, the firm now handling refurbishment work on council homes across the district.
The contractor donated £500 worth of Easter eggs and toiletries to the Shrewsbury Road foodbank. The donation comes as the foodbank has faced increased demand and a particular shortage of toiletries in recent months.
McConnell will be upgrading council properties with new kitchens, bathrooms, rewiring work, boiler replacements, and repairs to damp and structural issues. The company says the donation reflects its commitment to supporting local communities alongside its contract work.
Laura Kennedy, Support Engagement Manager at Bassetlaw Foodbank, said the team had been short on toiletries for several months. "They saw our plea and decided to fill our shelves," she said. "We even received a bonus donation of Easter eggs, which was greatly appreciated."
Councillor Lynne Schuller, Cabinet Member for Housing and Estates, welcomed the donation. "We look forward to working closely with them to maximise these benefits and strengthen support for our residents," she said.
