Retford's book festival is returning to the town centre this summer with a bigger programme of events than last year. From Saturday 6 June to Sunday 14 June, 22 literary events will take place across venues including Grove Street Methodist Church, St Saviour's Church, Idle Valley Nature Reserve and The Glass Lounge.
Tickets range from £5 to £25. The inaugural festival last year drew 1,754 people over its week-long run, establishing it as a fixture in the local cultural calendar.
This year's speakers include Henry Normal, who co-wrote the award-winning Mrs Merton Show and The Royle Family, and crime novelist Stephen Booth. Poet Blake Morrison and other UK-based writers will also feature.
A £900 community grant from Bassetlaw District Councillors is funding venue hire and author costs. Julia Kitchen, festival committee chair, said the support was crucial for bringing "much-loved" cultural events to the heart of the community.
