Nottinghamshire Police officers in Worksop and Retford are detecting shop theft offences at three times the national average, according to the latest policing figures for Bassetlaw.
Since the beginning of January 2026, the local team has detected 63.9% of all shop theft offences reported in the area. The figure is one of the highest detection rates in the county.
The strong performance on retail crime comes alongside a continued focus on drug-related offending in Worksop town centre, which remains an identified priority for the neighbourhood policing team.
However, the update also highlighted a rise in vehicle theft across Bassetlaw. Officers reported an increase in theft of motor vehicle offences, covering cars, motorcycles, and plant vehicles.
Anti-social behaviour across the district has fallen by 16.4% year-to-date. Police said they have increased their visible presence in Worksop town centre and strengthened working relationships with street wardens to maintain the downward trend.
The policing update follows the introduction of new Nuisance Vehicle Public Spaces Protection Orders on 1 April, which give officers additional powers to tackle anti-social driving with on-the-spot fines.
