Nottinghamshire Police arrested a man in Worksop on 7 April after receiving reports of a person carrying what appeared to be a firearm in the town centre.
Officers attended the scene and seized a BB gun during the incident. The suspect was arrested and taken into custody for questioning.
Police have used the incident to warn residents about the risks of carrying imitation firearms in public. Even though BB guns are not real weapons, carrying them can cause panic, trigger armed police response, and lead to serious consequences for the person carrying them.
Anyone who sees someone carrying a firearm or anything that looks like one should contact police immediately on 999. For non-emergencies, call 101 or use the Nottinghamshire Police website.
