Doncaster and Bassetlaw Teaching Hospitals is using artificial intelligence to transform stroke care across the region. A new imaging system called Rapid CTP analyses brain scans in real time, helping doctors quickly identify which parts of the brain can be saved and decide on urgent treatment.

The technology has made a major difference. Stroke patients can now receive treatment within 24 hours of symptoms appearing, compared to the traditional 4.5-hour window. This means more people have access to life-saving interventions.

The trust has also opened the Phoenix Therapy Suite at Montagu Hospital, one of the first facilities of its kind in the NHS. The suite uses robotic devices to help stroke patients regain movement, balance, and cognitive function during their recovery.

Dr Dinesh Chadha, stroke consultant at DBTH, said: "The right care at the right time can make a huge difference to recovery and quality of life. We are proud to offer advanced treatments and innovative rehabilitation, helping more patients regain independence."

If you think someone is having a stroke, remember FAST: Face (drooping on one side?), Arms (can they lift both?), Speech (slurred?), Time (call 999 immediately). Every second counts.
