DBTH has improved its position in the NHS National Oversight Framework, moving from 60th to 45th place out of 134 organisations nationally. The move into the top third of providers reflects performance across patient care, waiting times, workforce and finance.

The Trust, which operates Bassetlaw Hospital, Doncaster Royal Infirmary and Montagu Hospital, serves more than 440,000 people across South Yorkshire, North Nottinghamshire and surrounding areas.

Mark Bailey, Interim Chair of the Board, said the improvement came during "one of the busiest and most challenging periods of the year" and credited staff effort and teamwork.

Despite the progress, DBTH remains in Segment 3 of the performance framework. The Trust operates with a financial deficit, which under national rules prevents it from moving into a higher performance segment. Hospital bosses say they are developing a programme over coming years to improve access and quality of care whilst reducing the deficit.
