Doncaster & Bassetlaw Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust is changing how it sends appointment reminders to patients. From now on, the main way to receive updates is through the NHS App on your phone.

If you don't open a notification within eight hours, you'll get a text message as backup via a system called DrDoctor. This replaces the old method of just getting a text. Using the app means messages are verified as genuine, which helps protect against scams.

The NHS App will notify you about appointment changes, reminders, documents you need to fill in, and any temporary department closures. You'll need to switch on notifications both on your phone and in the app settings to receive them.

Paper letters are still available if you prefer. Some departments aren't yet using the app, including midwifery, obstetrics, neurology, neurosurgery, paediatric nephrology, palliative medicine and respiratory physiology.
