Doncaster and Bassetlaw Teaching Hospitals is trialling a new style of appointment that gets patients the help they need under one roof.

The Community Appointment Day at Doncaster Dome brought together NHS clinicians, council services and local community groups to tackle common health issues like back, knee and shoulder pain all on the same day.

Instead of booking separate appointments, patients arrived at set times and began with a one-to-one conversation with a clinician about what would help them most. From there they were guided through the venue to the right services, including digital support, exercise guidance, talking therapies and help with jobs.

About 150 people attended the first event. The approach aims to reduce health inequalities and cut delays by focusing on what really matters to patients.

Heather Jackson, Head of Therapies at DBTH, said bringing everything into one venue meant people got the right advice and care the same day. "It's a powerful example of how working in partnership can improve access, reduce delays, and give patients the confidence to better manage their own health," she said.
