Doncaster and Bassetlaw Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust is calling for volunteers to stand as governors, with just days left to apply.

Nine public governor seats are available: six representing Doncaster, two representing Bassetlaw, and one for the rest of England and Wales. The Trust is also recruiting four staff governors.

Governors hold Non-Executive Directors to account and ensure the Trust listens to patients, the public, and staff. You don't need healthcare experience or formal qualifications. Anyone aged 16 or over can stand, as long as you're a Trust member (free to join) and can meet fit and proper person requirements.

Mark Bailey, Chair of the Board, said: "Whether you're working or retired, have experience in healthcare or none at all, your perspective matters. If you care about your local NHS and want to make a difference, put yourself forward."

Candidates should be comfortable using email, engaging with others, and attending meetings, some online. You'll submit a short statement explaining why you want to stand.

Nominations close on Friday 5 June. Find details and apply at www.cesvotes.com/DBFT2026, or contact the Trust Board Office on 01302 644157 or dbth.trustboardoffice@nhs.net.
