Worksop Town delivered a statement victory on their final home appearance of the season, dismantling Peterborough Sports 8-0 at the Windsor Foodservice Stadium on Saturday. The emphatic result confirms the Tigers' survival in their league.
Oli Greaves set the tone early, opening the scoring in the 7th minute before doubling his tally just four minutes later. Mason O'Malley added the third in the 15th minute, followed swiftly by Szhem Whyte-Hall's opener. Peterborough's task became impossible when captain Elliott Whitehouse was sent off for dissent shortly after.
The home side capitalised ruthlessly on their numerical advantage. Whyte-Hall grabbed a second before half-time, with Liam Waldock firing home at 45 minutes to make it 6-0. After the interval, Greaves completed his hat-trick in the 57th minute, before Whyte-Hall claimed his own treble to seal the rout at 8-0. Peterborough was reduced to nine men when Zachary Willis received a red card.
Greaves earned the man-of-the-match award. Worksop's attention now turns to their final fixture, an away trip to Chorley on 25 April.
